Note the glands with small orange spheres. These are typical of var. Hoodiana. I am guessing that these glands are involved in nectar delivery. The shape of these glands may be related to the preference of pollinators.
This quarter inch leaf midway on the stem was the only leaf that I found.
A more mature flower.
In the morning when we past this spot there were a couple flowers. In the afternoon, on our way out, there were hundreds of flowers.
